Frequently asked questions

01
how much is a cake?

Cakes start from £70 and as all cakes are bespoke, a set price cannot be given due to the work and detailing involved on each individual cake. If you complete the Contact From with as much detail as possible, I can get back to you with your quotation.

If you would like to book a Cake Consultation, please email me, Samantha at info@happy-days-cakes.co.uk or call 07975 533 724.

02
How Much Notice Do you Need?

For wedding cakes, 3 - 4 months is recommended, and 4 - 6 weeks for celebration cakes. Short notice orders may be accommodated if there is availability.

03
Do you deliver?

Yes. There is a small delivery fee of £5 for the Warrington area. Outside of this area will be more, depending on the distance traveled. Please ask for more information. You are more than welcome to collect too.

04
What Forms of Payment Are Accepted?

Cash, Bank Transfer, and PayPal (Plus transaction fee).

05
do you require a deposit?

For wedding cakes, a £100 non-refundable deposit is required to secure the date in the diary and the remaining balance is due to be paid no later than 2 weeks before the date of the wedding.

Celebrations cakes and cupcakes etc, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your order in the diary and the remaining balance for cakes under £100 is paid on the day in cash or the day before collection/delivery by bank transfer.

For celebration cakes over £100, the remaining balance is to be paid no later than 7 days before collection/delivery. Failure to do this can result in your order being cancelled due to non-payment and deposits paid will not be refunded due to items already bought/made and time spent and the cost of orders turned down to accommodate your cake that week.

06
Can You Cater For Dietary Requirements?

All cakes contain gluten and may contain traces of nuts, but not nut products. I do however offer gluten-free sponges.

Please note that I do not make dairy-free or vegan cakes.

07
Are cakes baked fresh and how do I store them once I take them home?

Yes, they are. All cakes are deliciously homemade by myself, using good quality ingredients.

As my cakes are homemade they do not contain preservatives, additives, stabilisers or gelling agents, etc. Therefore they do not have the shelf life of shop-bought cakes. To enjoy your cake at its best, it is advised to eat it within 3 – 4 days of receiving it. It can be kept at room temperature, but not in direct sunlight, a fridge, or in the kitchen where there can be high moisture content and heat. If you have cake left over, it can be frozen for approx. 2 - 3 months – it will need to be tightly wrapped in clingfilm a few times so it is airtight and then wrapped in a layer of foil and placed in a sealable bag in the freezer. Any coloured icing may run slightly once you start to defrost, but the cake itself will be absolutely fine.

08
can i keep/store models from the cake?

Yes, you can. If you are able to remove them from the cake they can be stored in a box for years to come. Please make sure it is in a closed box, away from light and heat.

09
Do You Offer A Wedding Cake Delivery & Set Up Service?

Yes, although there is a charge for this service. Please ask at the time of ordering.

10
Do You Provide Cake/Cupcake Stands?

I only provide cupcake stands which are £5 to hire with a refundable £50 deposit at the time of booking.

11
Can I Sample Your Cakes?

Yes. Cake flavours are available for tasting and there is a small charge for each flavour. I do also offer a Tasting Box which can be posted out – again, there is a charge for this, and depends on how many samples are requested – please enquire for more information.

12
Can I Have A Different Flavour For Each Tier?

Yes, you can.

13
Can I make changes after I order the cake?

Changes in size, flavours, and decorations can be made up to six weeks before for Wedding cakes and 2 weeks for Celebration cakes. If any work has been undertaken/bought in advance this will be charged for. A lot of planning and purchasing of supplies and equipment go into preparing your cake in advance. If changes are significant you will be charged for extra work involved.

14
How do I transport my cake?

I always advise that cakes are placed either in the footwell of the car or the boot where the surface is flat and stable. Driving carefully around corners and bumps in the road is advised too when transporting tiered cakes. Cakes are provided in a box with adequate packing for the journey. Also, if you are collecting a large tiered cake, please allow plenty of room and height in the boot of your car for the box.
